Here's how you can add new patterns to the ones that already come with Photoshop.

First you need a pattern. A good size to work with when making patterns is 120 pixels x 120 pixels at 120 ppi. To add any of the patterns below to your set just copy them to your desktop then open them in Photoshop and follow the rest of this tutorial. Stucco Mosaic Lizard Cracked Cabbage Skin Screen

With your pattern file open go to the the menu bar and choose Edit>Define Pattern... Now in the window that pops up name your new pattern then click OK. To see your new pattern first select the paint bucket in the toolbox and then change the Fill to Pattern in the options bar. Now click on the pattern showing in the options bar, red arrow, and a window will pop up that displays the set you currently have loaded. To see the names of the individual patterns hold your cursor over a pattern and a tiny window with its name will pop up. Your new pattern will be the last one in the set. Just click on a pattern to make it the selected pattern.
