This is Photoshop's toolbox. The toolbox can vary from version to version. The main sections used on this forum is the orange section where you'll find your tools. The red section where your foreground and background colors are. And in certain versions of Photoshop, the blue section which is where you go from Photoshop to ImageReady. To move your toolbox click and drag it by its title bar, purple section.

When you click on a tool's button it will become dark and make that tool the active tool.

If you look closely you'll see some buttons have a tiny arrow in the bottom right corner. This means that there are additional tools that share this button. To see the additional tools click and hold on the tiny arrow. When you do a window will pop up showing you the other tools. To select one of these tools put your cursor over its name so it's highlighted then release. And you'll see your newly selected tool's button has replaced the previous one.

Toolbox Exercise
1). Go to a button that has a tiny arrow. Click and hold on the arrow then select a new tool. Do this for every button that has a tiny arrow.
2). Now move your toolbox wherever you want.
