There are a few things you can do with your paths. In the paths palette you can click the Fill path with foreground color button. When you do the path gets filled on the active layer in the layers palette. It's a good idea to add a new layer before filling a path so the shape doesn't accidentally cover anything.

You can select the brush or pencil tool from the toolbox and then choose a brush from the brushes palette. Now if you click the Stroke path with brush button the path will be stroked with the selected brush on the active layer in the layers palette. Same as when you fill a path it's also a good idea to add a new layer before stroking a path.

You can click the Load path as a selection button. You'll notice when you do your path is shut off in the paths palette.

When working with paths you might find that you need to add or delete an anchor point. To add an anchor point choose the direct selection tool, red outline, and click on the path so you can see the anchor points already on the path, pink arrows.

Now choose the add anchor point tool, red outline, then click on the path where you want to add an anchor point.
