Your back color and pattern layers will always be showing and never have their opacity changed. To hide a layer click the eye on its layer. To show a layer that's hidden click the box where the eye was. Hide layers pic 1, pic 2, pic 3 as well as your type layer.

Add a frame. Click on pic 1's layer. Show this layer. Change the opacity to 20%. Add a frame. Change the opacity for pic 1's layer to 40%. Add a frame. Change the opacity for pic 1's layer to 60%. Add a frame. Change the opacity for pic 1's layer to 80%. Add a frame. Change the opacity for pic 1's layer to 100%.

Add a frame.
Change the opacity for pic 2's layer to 40%.
Add a frame.
Change the opacity for pic 2's layer to 60%.
Add a frame.
Change the opacity for pic 2's layer to 80%.
Add a frame.
Change the opacity for pic 2's layer to 100%.
You should have eleven frames.

You should have sixteen frames.

Add a frame. Change the opacity for the layers pic 1, pic 2, pic 3 and your type layer to 80%. Add a frame. Change the opacity for the layers pic 1, pic 2, pic 3 and your type layer to 60%. Add a frame. Change the opacity for the layers pic 1, pic 2, pic 3 and your type layer to 40%. Add a frame. Change the opacity for the layers pic 1, pic 2, pic 3 and your type layer to 20%. You should now have a total of twenty frames.

Click on frame 1. Hold the shift key and click on frame 20. All of your frames should be highlighted. Click the tiny arrow under frame 1. Choose 0.2.

Click on frame 16. Click the tiny arrow under frame 16 and choose 1.0. You can push the play button to watch the animation. And you're done. If you were working in ImageReady choose Save>Save Optimized As... then name your file. If you were working in Photoshop choose Save>Save for Web and Devices... select to save it as a Gif then name your file.
