Open the image you want to add a reflection to. ![](http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p177/smileys_2007/Tutorials/ref3.jpg) To make it easier to see the reflection I added a layer and filled it with grey. Then I put it under the button's layer. ![](http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p177/smileys_2007/Tutorials/ref2.jpg)

Make a copy of your image's layer, which is the button layer in this tutorial. With the copy layer as the active layer, choose Edit>Transform>Flip Vertical. Select the move tool. Hold the shift key to constrain the move and drag the copy down. ![](http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p177/smileys_2007/Tutorials/ref4.jpg) In the layers palette move the copy under your image's layer. ![](http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p177/smileys_2007/Tutorials/ref5.jpg)

Click the Edit in Quick Mask Mode button at the bottom of the toolbox. ![](http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p177/smileys_2007/Tutorials/fd5.jpg) Go to your file. Click on the bottom of the copy, drag up to the top of the copy and release. You'll now see a red mask in your file. ![](http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p177/smileys_2007/Tutorials/ref6.jpg)

In the menu bar choose Layer>New>Layer via Copy. Go to your layers palette and hide the copy layer. Click on Layer 1 in the layers palette and adjust the opacity. ![](http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p177/smileys_2007/Tutorials/ref9.jpg) You can experiment with where you start and stop your click and drag to get more or less of the image in the reflection. ![](http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p177/smileys_2007/Tutorials/ref8.jpg)
