So, I kinda got roped into knitting the other day. My friend was taking me home on Wednesday, but she first had to go knit with the Spanish Honor Society, since they're making scarves for those participating in the Special Olympics. After completing a history quiz, I tried sneaking into the room, hoping to just sit in the back and finish homework. However, my old Spanish teacher spotted me and started telling me I should knit, to which I replied, "I don't have any materials." THEN, my English teacher walks in, and it just so happens that she has extras. Duh, that's my luck. Anyway, she taught me how to knit, and I picked it up rather quickly. For me, I mean- I'm usually very slow at things. I actually enjoyed it so much that she told me I could take her extras home, so here I am knitting this scarf! Being quite proud of myself, I must show off how far I've gotten so far. [It's supposed to be red, but it looks pink in the light I have.]

Wow. Very nice so far! And to think you just learned. My mom knits and I'm always amazed at the things she makes. I also have a friend who crochets. She's made some of the cutest animals. I honestly don't know the difference between crocheting and knitting. Make sure to post the finished scarf!

Thank you! Yeah, I was also surprised that I picked up something so quickly. I'm usually not very good with my hands, either, so it was amazing I was actually able to do a teeny bit of this without failing miserably.
No one I know knits or...anything, really. My step-dad knows how to sew (which is actually real handy when my clothes tear), but, otherwise, we're pretty boring people.
Once I finish it, I shall post it up, no worries! I'm trying to decide when i should add in some blue...but, because I don't have blue yarn and I REALLY don't know how to add in another color, I'll just keep knitting the red until Wednesday, when I can ask my English teacher for some much needed help. XD

I'm curious to know how you add another color.

It's actually easier than I expected. You just cut off the yarn you're using and tie on another color. I was able to do it today after school, and here's what it looks like now: I shouldn't have made such a long red part, because I'm not sure how to make it look good with half of it red and half of it blue...Oh, well. At least I got the hang of it.

Looks great so far. How long did it take you to get to that point?

Hmm, about a week, I think. However, my progress was very slow, considering I'm learning, and I don't think I even knit at all on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday.

I think that's a lot for that amount of time. All of your lines look very even btw.

Nope. I completely forgot about it over Christmas break, then I had an anime convention AND a funeral on the same weekend, so I'll hopefully finish it this week. It's almost done. I'm making it 60 inches, and I think it's, like...50. I haven't measured it recently, so I'm not certain.
I might actually post a picture up tonight.
